Description
Terracotta rectangular tile 24×3.5cm. Handmade in a family run production unit with 3 generations of experience. The mix of red and white clays and the burning process inside the kiln make each Terracotta tile unique.
After hydrating and kneading the clay, the master craftsmen shapes it manually in wooden moulds. Then, the tiles go through an air drying process followed by fire burning in a traditional oven. A simple but time-consuming process that has been used practically unchanged since ancient times. The manufacturing time can vary between 35 and 40 days in Summer and can extend up to 60 days during Winter.
Each handmade Terracotta rectangular tile 24×3.5cm has variations in tone, has a rustic and textured appearance and irregular edges that, together with marks and small inlays, make each tile different and unique.
