Description
Hand painted tile, Alcachofra II pattern (white, blue and yellow colours). These tiles are produced in central Portugal in a totally handmade way, by a family run production unit which has been preserving the Portuguese tile tradition for almost 300 years.
The outcome are lush artistic pieces, with soft, shiny and slightly undulated surfaces, where each tile is unique. The whole procedure is made by hand, shaped by artists with decades of experience, from the shaping of the clay to the careful paintings in each tile.
Each handmade and hand painted Alcachofra II tile has variations in its brush strokes, in the patterns and in the glaze tones. They have a slightly undulated surface and uneven edges which, together with slight flaws, make each piece exclusive.

Wavy surfaces and irregular lines that, together with marks and small imperfections, contribute to the unique character of each piece.
Glazed and painted tones are not uniform, unlike industrial products that are completely homogeneous.
Slight differences in weight, size and shape, with a few millimetres variation from tile to tile.
Those characteristics, proper of a fully manual production process, make each tile singular.
